After a wonderful whirlwind of a holiday season, we were able to relax for a few beautiful days on lake Huron, in the company of friends and family.
Our first full day was New Years Eve. The sky was a velvety grey, like a big fleece blanket you could curl up in. We ate, read, played games, rested, went out to a wonderful dinner, played more games, and stayed up way too late as we rang in the new year.
New Years Day was crystal bright. We walked on the beech, enjoyed conversation, and in the evening we built a huge bonfire under a diamond sky and all talked about the best and worst of the last year and our hopes for the one to come, while sipping hot chocolate and Baileys. Finally, we went inside for a very late dinner of stew, only to be swept up by a second wind resulting in more games and a ring puzzle contest that kept me up later than I've been in years.
I'm not sure if it made me feel old or young, but it was a lot of fun.
Our deepest thanks to Arnie, for his lavish hospitality and inclusion in a wonderful weekend and Doug & Kelsey for bringing us along. We loved celebrating with you.
