Today, I felt like I saw symbols of love marking the door posts everywhere I went, from a lovely yard to the door of my favorite spot apart from my home. (Calvin Fletcher's Coffee Company. Of course.) It made me think of the many traditions in history and throughout the world of marking borders with symbols. Flags mark the borders of a country. The Hebrew culture marks their doorposts with a Mezuzah, a little box that holds a blessing.
There is a warmth and hospitality, a setting of intention in marking your threshold. How beautiful to do so with love. As if to make a border inside of which people have safety and a promise.
